Martha “Marty” Simpson, LMFT, CSAT, CDWF is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, and a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator in private practice for the last 3 years following 4 years at Sexual Recovery Institute, Los Angeles. Trained in the Psychobiological Approach to Couple’s Therapy (PACT-2), the Association for Partners of Sex Addicts Partner Specialists (APSATS), Principals of Group Psychotherapy training with The Group Psychotherapy Association of Los Angeles (GPALA), Attachment-focused EMDR, Brainspotting, and Pat Ogden’s Sensorimotor Processing, a somatic & attachment based trauma training.
Marty is a trauma specialist and has a specialty working with sex, love and porn addicts, partners of sex addicts who are healing from betrayal trauma, and couples in recovery working on infidelity repair. She also loves working with couples who simply want to make their relationships strong and secure, parents wanting to build warm attachment with their children, and single adults who want to navigate the dating world in healthy, empowering ways.
Also a distinguished speaker and educator, Marty has presented at international conferences including the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) Symposium in 2016, and upcoming in May 2018, the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) in 2012, 2013, and 2014, Keystone Treatment Center, Alumni Weekend 2014, Los Angeles Women’s Association for Addiction Therapists (LA-WAAT 2014), Lesbian and Gay Psychological Association (LAGPA) 2015, Alliant University (2015), Cal Lutheran University (2016) among others. In 2014 she was honored to sit on a panel discussion with Barbara Steffens, PhD, Stefanie Carnes, PhD and Dan Drake, MFT discussing the Clinical Treatment of Partners of Sex Addicts (SASH 2014). She has also appeared in various media interviews and lectures on YouTube, Television, radio, webcasts and magazines.
Marty also runs a weekly Betrayal Trauma Group on Monday evenings
6:15 pm to 8:15 pm. This is a support and process group for women who are recovering from infidelity, betrayal or their partner's sex addiction.
Marty comes to this work with a strong interest and background in attachment-based psychotherapies, neuroscience, and mind-body integration which informs her strong opinion that we heal trauma within safe, secure-functioning relationships. Her work is focused on empowering her clients’ relationship to their sense of self, efficacy, sexuality, body image, and purpose as well as nurturing their intimacy development and relationships with others.
